Julia Cook is a wildlife photographer, author, and guide specializing in the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem. Raised in Cody, Wyoming, less than an hour from Yellowstone National Park, Julia developed a deep connection to wildlife and wild places from an early age. That connection eventually led her to photography and continues to shape the way she approaches both her work and time in the field. Julia holds a B.S. in Environment and Natural Resources and a B.A. in History from the University of Wyoming. In addition to working full time as a wildlife and outdoor photographer, she works as a photographic and wildlife guide with Skyline Safari and leads photography workshops in the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem and beyond. Through her photography, Julia aims to create thoughtful, impactful images that reflect the wild character of native wildlife while encouraging others to develop a deeper connection with the natural world. Ethical wildlife photography is central to her approach, with an emphasis on maintaining appropriate distance, minimizing disturbance, and allowing animals to behave naturally without interference. When she isn’t behind the camera, Julia enjoys fishing, drawing, writing, camping, and spending time outdoors with her lab, Sylvan, who accompanies her on many of her adventures.
